Lots Of Screen Time.

Joe WeinMy First Computer was a Texas Instruments TI-99 which used a cassette tape as a hard drive. Later came my closer companion, the Apple IIe. I still have it. And floppies of programs I wrote in BASIC. The one that creates a D&D character is hundreds of lines of code long and still works. When I got a computer with a modem, I could only dial-up to one computer at a time (Called a Bulletin Board System). Then came the Internet.

When the Internet took off, I was a network admin working the night shift for a company called NewsCom, since bought by the Los Angeles Times. I was the entire night staff, alone in an historic building in downtown L.A. It did not feel like Los Angeles, eerily quiet and desolete after dark. It was there I started making websites.

I’m Joe Wein. I launched this company in the late nineties. I made a few small websites for local businesses before being contracted to design and build a site for a sailboat in the America’s Cup. This lead to work for 20th Century Fox, where I was hired to make many of their Home Entertainment websites, and eventually the Fox Store for selling their merchandise. As a designer, one of my big inspirations was Hillman Curtis. He was a phenomonal website designer, I read all his books and studied everything he did. He passed away some years ago and I never got to meet him. His company was last located in Brooklyn, he was the best.

Today I continue to work with other wonderfully talented designers and programmers for businesses of all sizes. I have been a consultant of social media campaigns for motion pictures such as The Missing Link, Trolls, Rambo Last Blood, Hellboy 3, Tim Burton’s Dumbo, Ma, The Hate U Give, and countless others. I am redesigning Worthe.com, which owns over 7,000,000 SF of premium commercial real estate in Los Angeles – they will be introducing a new Gehry Building for their property Burbank Studios. I also have a love of filmmaking, which you can learn more about at joewein.com.
